Dubai added more power to its grid with its first solar plant thanks to First Solar. The 13-MW PV plant, costing around $33 million to $35 million, is the largest in the MENA region, according to Dubai Electricity & Water Authority’s (DEWA) Saeed Al Tayer.
Dubai’s state utility said that it plans to build another 100 MW PV plant and will host a bid round in six months. Al Tayer said, “This is the first part of Dubai’s plan to develop a solar park with 1,000 megawatts of power by 2030.”
