Charity Takes to Lighting up Malawi

Relief organization Spirit Aid has partnered with a solar company Renewable Resources to help spread solar lighting throughout Malawi. The £100,000 campaign aims to provide power to 15,000 people while creating the first solar-powered community in the continent.

Renewable Resources began installing solar panels to produce power and also donating laptop computers at a local school in Mphata-Milonde. Eleven panels were installed with batters to power the school as a stand-along building. "The solar power will enable us to eventually provide computers to the high school so that these young people can learn IT skills to complement their extraordinary academic pass results which will offer them exceptional opportunities to follow a career and lift themselves and their families out of poverty," Spirit Aid’s David Hayman said.
