As the share of renewable technologies in the total energy supply mix continuously increases, a growing effort to integrate these technologies into the electricity grids is crucial. To ensure that professionals working in this sector have the necessary know-how, the Renewables Academy (RENAC) is now offering the opportunity to become a “Certified ReGrid Manager” (CRGM).
This new qualification covers topics on how to increase and improve integration of renewable energies into the electricity grid, as well as on how to support the efficient transportation of energy to consumers, and on how to improve the reliability of renewable energy sources. This new qualification is directed towards professionals in Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Libya, and Tunisia, who are working for ministries or administrations, electricity providers, grid operators, energy utilities, financing institutions or companies working in the renewables sector.
CRGM candidates will at first work through a special online course, learning how to run electricity systems with large amounts of wind and solar power, as well as how to manage company- and system-wide transformation processes to support large amounts of wind and solar power.
They will study power production scenarios from grid connected wind and solar parks. Topics covered are generator concepts for renewable generation, the prediction of wind and solar power, balancing power, grid codes for renewables, storage solutions and grid integration. The course will conclude with a final examination. Only candidates who pass this examination will receive the certificate. Application deadline for the online course is the February 15.
