French renewable energy firm Vergnet may have had some hiccups with its wind project in northern Nigeria, but it is still looking to continue its renewable ventures in the West African country. And while northern Nigeria may still provide complications, Vergnet is now looking in the south at Osun state.
The French company signed an agreement for the construction of a 13-MW solar power plant. Under the MoU, the plant will be located in Osogbo. The Office of Economic Development and Partnerships director-general Dr. Charles Akinola said that the French company would provide technical expertise and advisory services on the project design, planning, and financing plan. He said the company would facilitate and finance the project with help of the French government while Osun state would be responsible for the allocation of land, contractual clearing, and negotiations with various departments.
