Nigeria to Set Aside $300 Million to Protect Power Investors

The Nigerian government said it will put aside $300 million dollars as a partial risk guarantee to offer protection to investors in the power sector.

The Media Special Assistant to the Power Minister Olawale Rasheed issued a statement on April 26 saying that the fund was in conjunction with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the World Bank. The Minister said that the government had lined up a series of incentives to help increase investor’s confidence and to guarantee a return on investment. The Power Minister Alhaji Mohammed Wakil said that a Power Africa Desk had been established at the Ministry to serve as a “one-stop shop” for industry stakeholders.
