Chinese Firm to Install 200 MW of Solar in Ghana

Chinese firm Solargiga’s subsidiary DCH Solargiga signed an agreement with the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) to install 200 MW of solar power capacity in Ghana.

The company will begin the development of a 40-MW solar PV project in northern Ghana in Tamale, which will require an investment of about $117 million. SADA is expected to invest 10% of the total equity with Solargiga hoping to obtain the rest of the financing from multinational development banks.

Solargiga CEO Hsu You Yuan, “We are very pleased to extend our global footprint through tapping into the Ghana market and to develop overseas end markets for our solar products. Facing the imposition of US and EU tariffs and countervailing anti-dumping duties on Chinese PV products, we are devoted to expanding other high growth potential international markets.”
