China’s ExIm Supports Tanzanian Wind Project

China’s Export-Import (ExIm) Bank will provide a $136-million soft loan to Tanzania in support of the Singida wind power project. The first phase which will consist of 50 MW will start construction in 2015 via Geo Wind Power Tanzania Ltd; and it is expected to come online in 2016.

Abdallah Mandwanga, National Development Cooperation Head of Chemical Industry, said: “This project is focus on mitigating the shortage power in our country and to help our people, especially in rural areas, to get reliable electricity and increase their production and income.”

The loan is expected to come through by October for the PPP project.
