A new report was released showing that the 10 largest PV EPC companies in the world are set to install a combined 8 GW of solar capacity this year. IHS Technology said that this was the equivalent to 20% of the world’s non-residential PV demand.
Arizona-based First Solar and TBEA SunOasis from China are expected to contribute 1 GW of the 8 GW figure. The companies are focused on completing in-house developments in residential markets. SunEdison, SunPower, and GD Solar complete the top five, respectively.
"The largest EPC companies build their success on expanding domestic PV demand," said Josefin Berg, senior analyst for solar demand at IHS. "The main exception is SunEdison, which is set to install half of an estimated 950 MW of PV capacity outside its home base in the US.”
Out of the top 10 firms, six hail from China with four from the US knocking out Europe’s Abengoa and Belectric.
