Nairobi-based Bluesea Energy Ltd. announced that it will produce 40 MW in H2 2015 with its first wind power plant in Meru. In an interview with the Thompson Reuters Foundation, the company’s chairman David Ikaira said: “[Kenya] are moving away from traditional methods of generating power such as thermal, to clean methods of producing the same using our wind resource, which is more innovative and cuts carbon emissions.”
In 2012, Bluesea announced it would invest over $100 million to various renewable energy projects. The company has applied to the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) for a power generation license for the Meru farm, located in central Kenya.
