South Africa’s Energy Minister Tina Joemat-Pettersson said that the government is looking to combat problems in the process of commissioning renewable energy power projects. She said, “For the next round we want to intervene so that local players do have a fair share.”
On November 24, preferred bidders will be announced in the fourth round of the REIPPP. The minister said that her department was working on different models to help fuel the process. She said, “Just like with the IPPs, there’s private-sector involvement so there are different models.”
