Irish firm Mainstream Renewable Power signed an agreement with Swiss wind farm developer NEK Umweltechnik for the sale of the 225-MW Avitepa Wind Farm. Located 40 km outside of Accra, the project will cost $525 million and is expected to reach financial close by 2015 while producing power by early 2016.
The firms will jointly develop the project until financial close, and then Mainstream will manage the construction as well as operations and maintenance for its life cycle. Officials said that the scheme is currently in the final stages of developments, securing all major permits.
