Tanzania’s rural communities are implementing greening measures with a variety of renewable energy sources.
One of the main technologies comes from biogas, used to reduce fuels for cooking and lighting. Biogas digesters have been installed in the Karagwe District with a population of 332,000 people, with residents using animal waste as a feedstock to produce the necessary electricity.
Not only is Tanzanian communities looking to biogas, but the country itself just created its very own geothermal company, while China’s ExIm Bank looks to support a wind project in the East African country.
