Lafarge Africa’s Plans 220 MW Power Plant for Nigeria

Lafarge Africa will team up with Wartsila and the IFC to build a 220-MW power plant in Nigeria to help increase the country’s electrification rate. The $400 million plant will help expand the national grid and provide electricity to around 1.4 million homes in the West African country.

The 220 MW will be added to Lafarge’s existing 90 MW power plant mainly used for its cement operations. Under the agreement, Wartsila will build and manage the power plant with Lafarge Africa managing the project.
