The World Bank’s Executive Directors approved a $519-million CSP project to help the North African country diversify its energy mix. The funds will go toward the Noor-Ouarzazate CSP project, Morocco’s first utility-scale solar energy complex.
The World Bank previously approved the first phase in 2011, currently under construction, which will generate 160 MW of power. The next injection of funds will finance the next phase of 350 MW, including the installation of solar parabolic troughs and a solar energy tower.
