Nigerian information and communications technology (ICT) firm, Omatek Ventures Plc, plans to address power supply issues by using solar technology. The company said it is looking to deploy solar technology solutions to reduce power consumption in the West African country by as a much as 85%.
Omatek commissioned a 50KVA three-phase off-grid solution factory that will produce on-grid inverters, batteries, solar panels as well as LED bulbs.
CEO of Omatek, Florence Seriki, said the items are assembled locally and packaged with Omatek’s solar, inverter, battery, and controller in an all-in-one carton and can be self-installed. “We have installed these solutions in schools, homes, offices and factories. We are proud to inform you that the education sector welcomed not just provision of power and green energy, the hostels and all reading areas have 24 hours lighting and it bridges the digital gap in our school system.”
She also explained that already, Omatek has almost completed the setup and the establishment of two local factories that will manufacture solar panels and the LED bulbs. According to Seriki, the all-in-one solutions are being produced locally.
