Noble Denton, the global offshore engineering and marine consulting firm, has secured its largest contract to date. The contract, worth approximately £15 million, is from Thanet Offshore Wind Ltd. (TOW) to carry out project management services and foundation installation management on the Thanet Offshore Wind Farm Project.
The work is split into two separate elements involving two of Noble Denton’s subsidiaries, with BOMEL Ltd. performing the project management role including design, construction, installation, testing and commissioning activities and Noble Denton Consultants Ltd. being responsible for the foundation installation management contract.
Located off the coast of Margate in Kent, the Thanet Offshore Wind Farm Project will be the UK’s largest offshore wind farm site when it is constructed. It is due to commence delivering power next year and will provide power for up to 240,000 homes, increasing the UK’s total offshore wind power capacity by 30%. The project will make a significant contribution to the UK Government’s national and regional renewable energy targets.
“It is particularly pleasing to have signed these contracts with Thanet Offshore Wind Limited,” said Ian Bonnon, Noble Denton’s Europe Southern Operations Director. “We have been involved with the project from the outset through feasibility studies and inputs to environmental impact assessments. Through our detailed understanding of offshore renewables projects, we are in a unique position to offer the client the right blend of skills, personnel and experience which will allow the Thanet project to successfully move forward into the construction and installation phase.
“BOMEL has already established itself as a leading supplier of project management services to the offshore renewables industry and the award of this prestigious contract further enhances the company’s reputation in this field. The award of the foundations installation management contract to Noble Denton introduces the offshore renewables industry with an established contractor in this field, who has now completed a planned diversification into the renewables market.”
