Alternatives Gets a Push in Nigeria




United Bank for Africa Plc and First Bank Plc partnered with Energy Commission of Nigeria and the Rural Electrification Agency are coming together to develop renewable energy to meet the demand in the country.

 

These companies, in collaboration with The World Bank, Federal Ministry of Energy, the Solar Energy Society, and the like, will come together in Abuja, Nigeria to discuss alternative energy projects. The objective of the Third International Renewable Energy Conference, scheduled for the beginning of October, is to promote all forms of alternative energy, and it is also aimed at introducing successful financing mechanisms for funding of these projects.

 

Highlights of the conference will include finance and investment opportunities in renewable energy, renewable energy for sustainable building, converting waste to wealth, and renewable energy for rural development.

 

Other objectives of the forum which will feature over 20 exhibitors will include determining the role of non-governmental organizations in the promotion of renewable energy to communities.
