33 Primary Schools in Kenya See Solar Power

The Kenyan Rural Electrification Authority installed solar power systems in 33 public primary schools in the Tana River and Lamu counties as part of the government’s National Primary School Electrification Project, launched in 2013.

The solar power project that cost an estimated $573,527 was brought to fruition through a partnership with local water equipment supplier, Davis and Shirtliff.

The schools were chosen based on their distance from the national grid, 5 km or more.
