Eskom Take from Mozambique Down

Eskom reported that its plant maintenance program is progressing well, with a few power generating units that had been taken offline expected to be synchronized and put back online. The company said it was implementing appropriate levels of planned maintenance in line with the Generation Sustainability Strategy to ensure long-term plant health.

Eskom said that this has resulted in an improvement in unplanned maintenance and the number of plant breakdown over the past three months, positively impacting plant availability.

It also revealed that it, along with Hidroelectrica de Cahora Bassa (HCB) from Mozambique will undertake planned maintenance on the Cahora Bassa hydroelectric scheme. This routine maintenance will reduce South Africa’s imports from Cahora Bassa by 650 MW for the whole week.
