Morocco postponed the inauguration of its new solar power plant, Noor 1, in Ouarzazate. King Mohammed VI was expected to inaugurate the CSP plant on December 27, however according to reports there was a last minute delay. No reason was given for the delay.
The 160-MW Noor 1 was expected to open at the end of this month. The project’s next phases, Noor 2 and Noor 3, are planned to start in 2016 and 2017 respectively, and a call for tenders is open for Noor 4 as well. Once completed, the Noor solar plant will have an overall capacity of 580 MW.
