Obama Set to Implement Change in America’s Alternative Energy Policy

As the United States has elected a new president, alternative energy should become the recipient of an invigorated national energy development strategy when Barack Obama takes office as the 44th President.

The New Energy for America plan will include adding one million plug-in hybrid cars by 2015, ensuring 10% of electricity will come from renewable resources by 2012 (increasing to 25% by 2025), and extend efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 80% by 2050. In addition, at least 60 billion gallons of advanced biofuels will be implemented by 2030.

The plan, if successful, could create a model for other countries – particularly African nations – to follow in order to advance more into the alternative/renewable energy sector.
