Nigeria unveiled plans to add an additional 1,206 MW of electricity to the national grid, using renewable energy. According to Power, Works and Housing Minister, Raji Babatunde Fashola, the project is expected to start as soon as plans have reached final stages, adding that the present administration is committed to adopting renewable energy.
He also emphasized the need for the establishment of more solar panel factors in Nigeria, saying assembling and manufacturing would cut costs.
According to the Minister, it became necessary to provide adequate incentives in terms of cost to make solar power more attractive and efficient to the people.
