Tanzania plans to open a renewable energy training center. The news of the training center follows a study revealing that renewable energy, particularly solar, is dominating rural Tanzania.
Dr. Herb Rhee, director of the Innovative Technology and Energy Center (ITEC), said the renewable energy technology center will open in August. The training center will have the capacity to train 1,000 students per year.
The training center will be located at the Nelson Mandela African Institute of Science and Technology in Arusha. It will also have satellite facilities in Karatu Dodoma.
