Tunisia’s state-run utility, the Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company (STEG), signed an agreement with Japanese firm Mitsubishi Hitachi Power to build a 450-MW power plant.
The power plant will replace the plant in Radès, that was built in 1980. The new plant will be located near the site of the old plant.
The new plant will be commissioned in two phases in 2019 and 2020. At a cost of roughly $325 million, the funding will be provided by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
