The African Union (AU) is investing $150 million in the development of geothermal energy development in East Africa. The investment is in collaboration with its various partners.
The investments were revealed at the opening of the 29th African Union Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Of this funding, $87 million has already been invested in projects led by several countries including Burundi, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Rwanda, and Kenya.
