Ethiopia expects to see its first biomass power plant to beoperational by December. According to reports out of the country, the infrastructure for the biomass plant iscurrently over 94% complete.
The plant will have a 50 MW capacity and islocated in the capital of Addis Ababa.
The plant will process wastefrom the country’slargest dump, whichcovers over 5.3 hectares, and is beingbuilt at a cost of $118.5 million.
The project was developed by British firm Cambridge Industries Limited and the China Electrical Engineering Company (CNEEC), Xinhua reports. It will prevent the emission of 46,494 tons of green house gases every year.
