Voith Hydro executive, Quentin Seringe, met with Cameroon’s Minister for Water and Energy, Basile AtanganaKouna. Following the meeting Seringe told reporters that the company he represents was interested in the rehabilitation of the aging Lagdo hydropower plant.
The 72-MW hydropower plant is located in the northern part of the country.
In May, the Ministry indicated that it had carried out a study to completely rehabilitate the plant, with the option of increasing its capacity from 72 MW to 80 MW. The cost of rehabilitation works on the plant is estimated at CFAF 100 billion.
Minister Kouna revealed that steps are underway to find the funding to undertake the project.
