Uganda’s Renewable Energy Sector on the Rise

Renewable energy usage in Uganda is expected to increase from 4% to 61% over the next nine years.

The assistant commissioner for renewable energy, Godfrey Ndawula, said the Government will install 6,000 square meters of solar water heaters by 2012 as one way of utilizing renewable energy resources. Ndawula was speaking at a sensitization workshop on solar development.

The ministry is implementing a two-year pilot project to promote solar water heaters in the country.
