Cmec to Construct Hydropower Project in Cameroon

China Machinery Engineering Corp. (Cmec) entered into an agreement with the government of Cameroon for the construction of an 84-MW hydroelectric power station, according to a statement from the company issued to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

The plant will be located in Ngoyla, located in the eastern region of Cameroon.

The project, which will cost more than $398 million dollars, will also see the construction of a transmission line. The work will take just under five years to complete. However, says China Machinery Engineering Corp, the actual work can only start after the "satisfaction of certain conditions." Those conditions remain unclear.
