SIAG El Sewedy Towers, an incorporated company of SIAG Schaaf Industrie AG and El Sewedy Cables layed the foundation stone for a corporate tube tower plant after a on-year-planning in Aikn Sokhna, which is 60 kilometers south of the Suezcanal. This plant represents the initial major-investment of SIAG outside Europe and is a significant step for the Wind Energy Market on the north-african continent.

The new plant is located at the Red Sea, close to the heavy-duty loading and shall be the basis for the consequent growth of the SIAG Group in the north-african as well as mediterranean area.

24.000 sqm production area is available to manufacture 1000 segments per year in the first construction section. This production will be increased to 2000 segments per year on a second construction section on a total area of 250.000 sqm.

The production site in Egypt employs 500 staff members, whereof 25 german skilled-workers commence the production in a two-shift operation while breaking the Egypt workers in through learning-by-doing.

The total investment amounts to 40 million Euro and will be beared in equal parts by both parties. El Sewedy Cables employs over 8000 staff members throughout Africa and manufactures high-voltage cables. The main focus is on Wind Energy besides further business areas.
