Renovations to up Kambambe Dam’s Output

Angola’s Kambambe Hydroelectric Dam will undergo renovations and expansion set to begin this month as announced by Rui Dias, the official over the project.

Dias told Angop that the project would be completed in three stages. The first stage will include modernizing the four generators of the dam in order to increase production to 67 MW from 45 MW. The renovation will be alternated in order to keep the dam in production. The second stage will be to elevate the dam by 20 meters, leading to a total production of 520 MW. The final implementation will involve the installation of a new station with three generators that are designed to produce 173.3 MW each.
