The power line linking Ghana to Burkina Faso is expected to come online by the end of H1 2018, according to the Minister of Energy in Burkina Faso while visiting the construction site.

The 225-KV electrical interconnection will link the localities of Bolgatanga in Ghana and Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso. It will extend over 210 km of which 37 km will be built on Ghanaian soil.

The project is being financed by the World Bank, the French Development Agency, the European Investment Bank, the Burkina Faso National Electricity Company and GRIDCo.

The purpose of this infrastructure will be to enable Ghana to export energy at lower cost to Burkina Faso.
