The Republic of Congo (ROC), in an effort to promote a nuclear power sector as well as other peaceful nuclear applications, has signed a MoU for cooperation in the civilian nuclear sector. This agreement was concluded between the Congolese Ministry of Scientific Research and Technical Innovation and Rosatom, the Russian nuclear company.
This agreement, which is the first of its kind for the ROC, lays the foundation for this collaboration, which will take into account several activities. This will include the development of nuclear infrastructures in the country, the development of awareness programs on nuclear technologies and their possible applications in the fields of industry, agriculture, medicine and energy. It is also planned to build a nuclear science and technology center in the ROC.
The two countries will establish multi-sectoral working groups composed of experts from both countries to implement the MoU.
