Mozambique Secures Funding for Rural Energy Access

The Belgian government has earmarked €12 million for Mozambique to support the expansion of access to energy in rural areas. The funding will be used for the construction of a small hydropower plant in the district of Gurué, located in the province of Zambezie, as well as the realization of isolated electrical systems for 12 villages and administrative posts. This funding is part of the implementation of the "Renewable Energy for Rural Development" (RERD 1) program, signed in 2011 by both countries, to promote economic development through increased access to energy.
