Abu Dhabi National Oil Co. (Adnoc) and Masdar today signed a JV agreement marking the region’s first company focused on exploring and developing commercial-scale projects for carbon capture and storage (CCS). Adnoc and Masdar jointly awarded a $122.5-million engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract to Dodsal Group to build a CO2 compression facility and a 50-km pipeline.
“The implementation of this technology is a demonstration of Masdar and ADNOC’s commitment to decarbonizing the UAE’s growing economy,” said H.E. Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, CEO of Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company.
Adnoc holds a 51% interest with Masdar retaining the remaining 49%.
