Aiming to Electrify Cameroon

As the renewable energy market continues to heat up, more college students are joining the industry. One Cameroonian, Charlie Ndambadji, is currently finishing up his first semester at Mesalands Community College in New Mexico, US with hopes of helping electrify his country.

Majoring in wind energy technology, Ndambadji said, "There are more than 40% of people in Africa living without electricity," he continued, "The cost of electricity is high and is much more expensive in the villages because it’s selective." He hopes to study different forms of renewable energy, particularly wind as there is a great potential to utilize this source for Cameroon. "My long term goal is to be able to teach wind energy in Cameroon at the university." He will officially begin the Wind Energy Technology program in the fall of 2010.
