Alten Energias Renovables will install a 45-MW solar PV power plant in the Hardap region of Namibia. Under the terms of the tender, the company will be responsible for the development, financing, construction and operation of the infrastructure.
The facility will have a 25-year operating life and has an estimated cost of $45 million. The mobilization of these funds has already been undertaken and NamPower, Namibia’s state-utility, will have 19% of the facility to be set up as an investor.
Upon completion, the solar power station will be the largest of the country.
“Obtaining this contract demonstrates Alten Energias’ strong commitment to providing energy to sub-Saharan Africa. We look forward to excellent results over the coming years, largely because of clean and sustainable technologies we plan to implement,” said Juan Laso deputy director of the company.
