Astonfield Renewables have expanded from East Africa to the continent’s island nations; well, it is at least expanded into one island nation. Astonfield won an order for two solar power projects at 4 MW to help the Mauritian government complete its 10 MW solar PV program. The company was chosen among 56 leading solar PV developers originating from around the world. "Astonfield is one of only three companies to have been awarded this tender capturing 40% of the allocated projects,’ the company said in a release.
Astonfield will invest about $8.2 million to develop the projects with two major banks currently competing to provide financing. The first 2 MW project will be located in La Gaulette with the second in Union Flacq (in partnership with Alteo Energy).
