The introduction of an Atomic Energy law in Uganda has boosted the country’s ties with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Currently the Chief of Cabinet, Antoine van Dongen, to the IAEA is in the country inspecting Uganda’s program supported by the IAEA.
With the new law in place Uganda could move forward on establishing a full fledge nuclear program with the help of the IAEA.
“The law was a prerequisite to set into motion a more fruitful cooperation between the agency and other sectors. It will now be possible for us to extend assistance," said Dongen.
