Nedbank Group, a bank holding company, has opened South Africa’s first wind-powered branch in the Western Cape.
The new office will be powered by wind turbines installed by Eveready-Kestrel and will generate all electrical power needs. An existing power grid will remain as a back-up energy source when there isn’t enough power generation from wind energy.
The bank also hopes to combine solar panels with a wind turbine to provide electricity to a youth and family development center in Athlone.
