Biofuel Workshop Planned for Africa Agribusiness Forum 2008

The Corporate Council on Africa (CCA), Agribusiness Initiatives Program, is hosting the 2008 Agribusiness Forum, Investing in Agriculture Links in Africa in Chicago, IL June 25-27, with hopes of attracting more than 300 leaders from the private and public sectors from Africa and the US.

The two-day forum will discuss matters dealing with bio-fuel industry growth, carbon trading, and production technology, to name a few. The “Bio-fuels-Expanding Agribusiness in Africa” workshop will be lead by Buchanan Renewables, Schaffer Global Group, and Illovo Sugar. The workshop will highlight opportunities in Africa for growth in the biofuel sector, challenges facing potential investors, and best practices employed by already established companies in the market.

“Africa’s favorable climate, vast land resources, and diverse offerings of renewable energy sources, provides tremendous investment opportunities and potential for the Continent to help meet global energy demands,” said CCA President Stephen Hayes. “We are pleased to welcome Buchanan Renewables, Schaffer Global Group, and Illovo Sugar as sponsors of the 2008 US-Africa Agribusiness Forum’s biofuels workshop, and know that their respective expertise in this sector will provide participants with information necessary to invest in biofuel production.”
