In Uganda, Bujagali Energy, a joint venture between Industrial Promotion Services of Kenya and US-based Sithe Global Power, has awarded a $3.8 million contract to US-based firm MWH for engineering services.
MWH will be providing engineering services for Uganda’s 250 MW Bujagali hydropower project. The plant is on the Victoria Nile River, about 8 km downstream of the Owen Falls hydropower project. Bujagali, which is expected to cost $682 million, began construction in August 2007 and is scheduled for completion in 2011.
MWH also expects to soon issue a tender for selecting a project delivery contractor on an EPC basis.
