Burkina Faso Now a PV Module Manufacturer

Solar module maker Faso Energy has begun manufacturing at its 30 MW solar module fab in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. Prime Minister Christophe Joseph Marie Dabiré presided over the opening of the first such solar panel manufacturing plant in West Africa.

The plant is located in the industrial zone of the Kossodo district of the Burkinabe capital, will produce from 60-100 PV panels per day. Modules with power  outputs ranging from 260 W to more than 330 W. The factory was constructed at a cost of around $5.78 million. 

The Prime Minister said Faso Energy’s new facility “will help reduce our country’s electric energy deficit, wealth and jobs creation, and the cost of acquiring solar material in Burkina Faso.”
