Platinum Power announced on May 24 that it has launched a call for prequalification of companies, with a view to concluding a turnkey contract to mobilize the required resources in the construction and installation of the Makay hydroelectric complex in Cameroon. The hydroelectric complex has an estimated capacity of 350 MW when complete.
The launch of this pre-qualification comes after the signing of an agreement on the terms of reference relating to the project and the contract for the purchase of electricity between the Cameroon goverment, Platinum Power, and Eneo Cameroon in April.
Interested entities are invited to submit a pre-qualification dossier for the Makay project under the conditions detailed in the documents downloadable on the Moroccan company’s website.
The Makay complex, located on the Nyong River in the Nyong-et-Kelle department, will produce more than 1600 GWh / year at a capital cost of $1 billion. This would translate into access to electricity for an additional 6 million people in Cameroon.
