Cameroon and ROC Ink Deal for New Hydro

Cameroon and the Republic of Congo (ROC) signed a deal at the Central Africa Economic Union’s meeting in Brazzaville to build a hydropower plant on Cameroon’s Tcha River.

The dam, located around 70 km from Ngouala, will add 600 MW of power to Cameroon and the ROC’s grid. The project will also help the interconnectivity scheme running through Central Africa with aims to eventually help power production in the Central African Republic (CAR). Through this agreement, the Congo and Cameroon commit to invest in the project and ensure free movement between the two countries of experts and state officials involved in implementing the project.
