Joule Africa Ltd. is set to begin the second phase of the Kpep hydrodam, a project that once completed could see 450 MW added to Cameroon’s national grid. The dam is over the river Katsinal-Ala, located in the Furu-Awa sub division, Menchum division of the North West region.
The pre-feasibility study was completed by the end of 2012 with the second phase expected to end by 2014. “Afterwards we will start finalizing the legal and financial instruments with the government of Cameroon to allow for the start of construction work.” Mark Green, President of Joule Africa and director of operations, explained. The project is expected to be completed by 2017.
The project is expected to be completed by 2017, but could suffer from infrastructure delays as roadways are currently unavailable in the area.
