Canadian firm Windiga Energy will construct a 20-MW solar PV plant in Burkina Faso, making it the country’s first project of its kind. Siemens Energy Smart Generation Solutions was selected to build and operate the plant, which is expected to be complete by the end of 2015.
Finance for the project is being funded by the African Development Bank (AfDB), the Frontier Markets Fund Managers, and the Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund. The agreement is under a 25-year PPA with the national utility, Sonabel.
