Cape Verde Erects First Wind Turbines at Cabeolica

Cape Verde is moving forward with its Cabeolica wind farm project, which will see four wind farms online in October. The first wind turbines were erected as part of a commercial-scale public-private partnership (PPP), and once completed, the project is expected to produce up to 100 GWh per annum. This is the first PPP in Cape Verde and the first RE PPP in sub-Saharan Africa.

In addition, Alternative Energy Africa announced in June that US-made wind turbines were expected to reach the island nation by July via the newly created local wind company Cape Verde Wind LLC.
