The China Electric Power Equipment and Technology Company (CET) was awarded the contract to connect the Standard-Gauge Railway in Kenya to the power grid. The contract, valued at about $240 million, was signed with Ketraco, the national company in charge of electric transmission.
The project will link the railway line from Mombasa to Nairobi with a power line that will be constructed along the route. It also includes the construction of 14 substations.
