The Climate Investment Fund (CIF) approved $21.7 million in funding for Tanzania’s Geothermal Energy Development Project. The project is located in the Ngozi Lake region of southwestern Tanzania.
The funding includes a $5 million loan from the CIF’s Large-Scale Renewable Energy in Low-Income Countries Program (SREP) and a grant of $16.73 million from the AfDB for the construction of the 100-MW geothermal power plant.
